First City COVID-19 Prevention PlanFirst City CrossFit will be reopening for business on Friday June 12th, 2020. Upon reopening, we will be implementing the following policies and procedures to ensure the health and safety of everyone. These policies and procedures are subject to change as appropriate and based on guidance from Monterey County. We anticipate being able to lessen the requirements and restrictions overtime in compliance with the direction of Monterey County. Thank you all for your help in this. I understand that these policies and procedures will take some extra effort on your part, but it is important to ensure the health and safety of everyone and to ensure that we can stay open. First City will be taking these policies and procedures with the utmost seriousness. All athletes MUST adhere to these policies and procedures. Any athletes not adhering to these policies and procedures are risking the health and safety of their fellow athletes. Failing to adhere to these policies and procedures may result in individual athletes being asked to leave the gym and possibly not being allowed to return. Failure to adhere to these policies and procedures could also force First City to close again, potentially forever, and could even possibly force the whole county to have to shut down again. No one wants this. Don’t be the reason for this. PRIOR TO COMING TO THE GYM Everyone MUST sign up for workouts in advance. You can sign up using the TRIIB app or by going to firstcity.triib.com. If you have any difficulty signing up, email info@firstcitycrossfit.com for assistance. Based on the amount of space and equipment, we will be limiting the number of athletes per workout to 12 athletes. We will be modifying the schedule temporarily to the following times to allow time for cleaning equipment. Mon-Fri – 5am, 6:15am, 8am, 9:30am. 12noon, 4:00pm, 5:15pm, 6:30pm We will be looking to adjust and expand this schedule. If you have feedback, let us know. If you are experiencing any symptoms, stay home. Common symptoms include fever or chills, coughing, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea. Athletes must not return to the gym until they have been symptom free for at least 48 hours. First City has put these policies and procedures in place to reduce the risk of transmission of the Coronavirus. No one is required to come to the gym. Everyone is here voluntarily and of their own free will. Anyone at-risk or not comfortable with the precautions taken is welcome to put their membership on hold or cancel it. WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT THE GYM While on-site, athletes MUST wear a mask when not working out AND maintain as much social distance as possible both before, during and after the workouts. As much as you may want to hug, high-five or fist bump your fellow athlete that you have not seen in 3 months, please resist. We are asking athletes to enter the gym via the bathroom entrance in the courtyard. All athletes must wash their hands when they arrive at the gym. Remember to lather for at least 20 seconds. Social distancing should also be used in the bathrooms. If the soap gets low, please be sure to let us know. There will be touchless dispensers with hand sanitizer on the front desk and the table next to our water filters. If the hand sanitizer gets low, please let us know. Our water filtration units are operated by touch. We are asking that athletes bring a water bottle, fill it up after washing their hands, and use hand sanitizer after. We ask that athletes who arrive early wait in the back room, continuing to wear their masks and maintaining social distancing as much as possible. Approximately 5 minutes before the workout begins, coaches will let athletes know to enter the main room for the workout. Athletes will need to have their temperature taken on the way into the main room. If you have a fever (above 99 degrees), you must leave and should not return until you have been free of a fever or any symptoms for at least 48 hours. After having their temperature taken, athletes will grab two or more towels and find a workout station with their equipment for the workout and wipe off the equipment. If there is not a workout station available or if the station you have does not have the equipment you need, this will be the time to get it and bring it back to your station and clean it prior to using it. Stations are just areas of the gym separated from other athletes by at least 6ft. if athletes have to cough or sneeze, they MUST use a tissue or the inside of their elbow. Tissues will be available on the front desk. If the tissues are running low, please let us know. PRIOR TO WORKING OUT For safety reasons, athletes can remove their mask when the warm-up begins or at any point during the warm-up and keep it off throughout the workout. We will ask athletes to maintain social distance as much as possible throughout the warm-up and workout. We will no longer gather in the front of the room for announcements and to review the workout. We will still do these things including warming up, but we will do it at our stations maintaining social distancing. WHILE WORKING OUT When first starting back, athletes are strongly encouraged to scale their workouts and ease back into the intensity. Pushing too hard too soon can not only leave you extremely sore but can put you in the hospital with a very serious condition known as Rhabdo. There will no longer be communal chalk buckets. We have blocks for chalk available for sale. They can be purchased thru the coaches. We will have ziplock bags for storing them and sharpie markers to write your name on the bag. Athletes are encouraged to motivate and to offer encouragement to their fellow athletes. However, all high-fives and fist bumps must be done from a distance with no contact. Athletes will not be permitted to share equipment during a workout. This includes floor space and crossbars on the rig. Pull-ups on island rig must be done facing outward and athletes should avoid moving into the center of the island rig in between sets. Rowers, Assault bikes, and Ski Ergs may need to be substituted to ensure that this equipment is not shared. When running, stay to the right on the way out using the bike path and stay to the right on the way back in using the sidewalk. As always be careful of cars and uneven surfaces in the road and sidewalk. WHEN DONE WORKING OUT All equipment must be wiped down thoroughly when you are done and left at the station for the athletes in the next workout to use. Once you have had a chance to recover, please put your mask back on and exit the main room so the athletes for the next workout can enter. It is ok to socialize while at the gym as long as you are following the same guidelines as you would follow outside the gym. Wear a mask and maintain as much social distance as possible. OPEN GYM Experienced athletes who have demonstrated their ability to workout safely on their own are permitted to workout on their own. This is also referred to as Open Gym. Athletes who wish to do Open Gym must follow the safety precautions above where applicable. Athletes who wish to do Open Gym must sign up for one of the Open Gym time slots. We will be limiting the Open Gym slots to 6 per hour. We will adjust this as needed. Open Gym athletes must wash their hands and have their temperature taken by a coach when arriving at the gym.. Open Gym athletes MUST clean off their equipment before AND after it is used. Open Gym athletes are restricted to only using the backroom for now. We will be looking at how to make Open Gym more flexible while still maintaining the safety precautions necessary. If you have feedback let us know. CHILDREN AND CHILDCARE For the time being, we will not be allowing children in the gym. At some point soon, we will be looking to resume childcare with restrictions to ensure the health and safety of everyone. NEW ATHLETES We are now allowing new athletes to try out the gym. Please help us welcome new athletes to the gym. VISITING ATHLETES At this time, we will not be allowing visiting athletes to drop-in to workout.
