What is the CrossFit Open?
The CrossFit Open is the largest fitness competition on Earth and an exciting showcase of the CrossFit community. In the Open, athletes like you, from all around the world, show up and push themselves further than they ever thought possible for one workout a week for three weeks. Challenges, PRs, and the unknown await.
While it is the first round of competition on the path to the CrossFit Games for the fittest men and women in the world, the Open is for ALL CrossFitters with divisions for ALL levels including Foundations for beginners, Scaled, Rx, Teens, Masters, and Adaptive. Whether you love competing or just love the community, the Open is for you.
The Open is three weeks with one workout per week. It starts on March 11th and goes until March 29th. CrossFit will announce a workout on each Thursday evenings and you will have until Monday at 5pm to come into First City and complete the workout and post your score online.
You can also complete the workout by going to another CrossFit affiliate (call or email in advance) or videotaping yourself doing the workout and upload it.
Friday Night Lights!
We will once again be doing the Open workouts as a gym on Friday nights! Come complete the Open workout, help judge, and/or cheer on your fellow athletes. Heats start at 5pm. Sign up for a heat time at firstcitycrossfit.com/open shortly after the announcement.
If Friday night does not work for you, you are always welcome to do the workout any other time from Thursday when it is announced to Monday before 2pm. The Open workout will be the workout of the day on Fridays during the Open. If you wish to do it at another time, please coordinate with us by emailing email@example.com to ensure that there is someone available to judge for you.
How do I sign up?
To sign up, go to http://games.crossfit.com and click on Register (you may need to scroll down). The cost is $20. Officially signing up is NOT required. You can still complete the workouts, but you will not be able to upload your score and see how you rank.
